Bailiffs began to withdraw in favor of the state the share of State Duma deputy from United Russia Sergei Sopchuk in the gold mining company Terney Zoloto, writes Kommersant. This happened after the entry into force of the court decision.
As the Prosecutor General’s Office established, Sopchuk, being a deputy, was illegally engaged in commercial activities (Article 289 of the Criminal Code). The owners of Terney Zolot, Sopchuk and Vasily Usoltsev, the former vice-governor of Primorye, concealed their participation in this asset from the regulatory authorities, they said in court.
Sopchuk – in the past speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Primorye, and now (since 2016) a member factions United Russia in the State Duma – in the period from 2011 to 2020, he invested 1.47 billion rubles in Ternei Zoloto LLC. This company has licenses for the development of the Salyut and Primorskoye gold deposits.
Becoming the main owner of Terney Zolot, Sopchuk conveyed 99.73% of the shares of her sister Lyudmila Stukova, who, in fact, became the fictitious owner of the parliamentarian’s business. Even as a deputy, Sopchuk continued to participate in the work of the company, while not officially declaring this asset, the prosecutor’s office said.
In 2016-2020, to the company’s accounts through controlled legal entities deputy listed 606.5 million rubles, while his official income amounted to 36.4 million rubles. With the money invested by Sopchuk, the company received plots in the Terneisky district of the Primorsky Territory, purchased special equipment and carried out geological exploration worth 38.5 billion rubles.
