Employees of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case after a fight in a penal colony in the Khabarovsk Territory. There, during the scuffle, two convicts were killed, and five more people were injured.
The criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 321 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (disorganization of the activities of institutions providing isolation from society) and Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of two persons), informs regional administration of the RF IC.
According to the RF IC, a fight between prisoners took place in correctional colony No. 14.
It is noted that a legal assessment will be given to the actions of the employees of the correctional institution. Investigators intend to find out whether measures were taken to prevent a conflict between the convicts.
Correctional colony No. 14 is located in the city of Amursk. How told a source of Interfax, “two groups of prisoners – those who agree and disagree with the administrative order in the colony, staged a massive fight with the use of sharpening tools”.
According to the interlocutor, order has been restored in the colony. “The sector where the fight took place was cordoned off. Special forces entered there, which managed to extinguish the conflict and take the situation under control, ”the source said.
A commission has been sent to the colony to investigate the incident.
The regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service reported only that six convicts were injured in the brawl, and the institution “is currently working as usual.”
