Baza editor-in-chief Nikita Mogutin said that on the night of September 4, unknown persons hacked his WhatsApp account. About this he himself reported in the Telegram channel.
“I woke up in the morning and saw two messages among the notifications: the first with the code, the second with the successful entry of this code,” Mogutin wrote.
The chief editor of Baza noted that he does not use WhatsApp, there he has only “a few chats with services, I don’t know, flower delivery, with a service for issuing passports and visas, a country football chat, a chat with catering advertising and many, many, hundreds and thousands of pictures with congratulations ”. The hackers did not receive any important information.
“I’m curious: people have been looking for signs of foreign funding, connections with the State Department or with“ fugitive oligarchs ”for more than a year now, but they haven’t found anything. But they continue to dig, persistently, with all their might, ”added Mogutin.
The chief editor of Baza has requested information about the account in the messenger, the results should come to him in three days.
At the end of August, the attackers also tried to hack the phone of The Bell journalist Irina Pankratova, and the newspaper itself was attacked.
In December last year, unknown persons tried to hack into the accounts of the authors of the investigation of “Important stories” about businessman Kirill Shamalov, including the account of investigative journalist, editor-in-chief Roman Anin.
