New Zealand police said police opened fire on the man armed with a knife and shot him dead. It took them 60 seconds to neutralize the culprit.

The murdered 32-year-old S. was a supporter of the Islamic State, said New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. However, he acted alone. For the attack, the man used a knife taken from a store shelf.
