Apple has indefinitely postponed the launch of a system for scanning iPhone photos stored in iCloud for child pornography. About it informs AppleInsider edition.

Early August Apple announced on the launch of a mechanism by which the company will check the correspondence and contents of the iCloud cloud storage for the presence of photographs with child pornography and signs of child abuse. The new feature was planned to be launched on all Apple operating systems.
In company assuredthat the technology is designed with privacy and personal information in mind, and the photos in iCloud will not be scanned. The function will automatically compare pictures with known illustrations of child sexual abuse from the database of the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Apple idea drew criticism cybersecurity professionals and human rights defenders. Experts in the field of personal data expressed the opinion that the new system indicates a weakening of the company’s requirements in the field of data protection.
