The area of ​​forest fires this year turned out to be 20% more than a year earlier – Deputy Prime Minister Abramchenko

The number of forest fires in Russia compared to the same period in 2020 remained at the same level, but the area covered by fire increased by more than 20%. About it stated Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko.

“The first fires were recorded already in January on the territory of two regions. Compared to the same period last year, the number of forest fires remained at the same level, but the area covered by fire increased by more than 20%, ”Abramchenko said.

According to her, this season the anthropogenic factor caused more than 66% of fires, natural phenomena – 34%.

“The recipe for success is to promptly bring funding in full to the structures that extinguish wildfires, eliminate fires on the first day, and, of course, reduce the anthropogenic factor as a cause of wildfires,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

According to her, the regions have been allocated 24 billion rubles to protect forests from fires, these subventions will be “painted” and made so that they cannot be cut even with a budget deficit. In addition, more than 20 thousand units of forest fire equipment were sent to the subjects.
