Petersburg came out on top in the number of new cases of COVID-19 per day, should from the data of the headquarters. During the day, the coronavirus was diagnosed in 1312 St. Petersburg residents, in Moscow – in 1129 people.
Thus, the incidence in the northern capital per day increased 2.5 times: the day before, only 513 cases of COVID were recorded. In addition, St. Petersburg for the third time over the past month bypassed Moscow in this indicator (previously – 10 and August 18).
All over the country in a day identified 18,368 new cases of coronavirus infection – this is a maximum of three days. For the entire time of the COVID-19 pandemic, almost 7 million Russians were diagnosed, 184,014 of them died.
August 27 in St. Petersburg weakened a number of restrictions introduced in June due to a sharp increase in the incidence. Thus, entertainment and leisure facilities located in shopping centers resumed their work, children’s rooms, water parks and amusement parks were opened for visitors.
In the midst of the pandemic, the authorities held a holiday for alumni “Scarlet Sails” on Palace Square, where gathered more than 40 thousand people.
