In the countries of the European Union, 70% of the adult population underwent a full course of vaccination against coronavirus, reported on Twitter, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

Thus, about 250 million people were vaccinated. In total, about 450 million people live in the EU. At the same time, the head of the European Commission called for continuing to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

“We must move on! We need more Europeans to get vaccinated. And we also need to help the rest of the world get vaccinated. We will continue to support our partners, ”Leyen said.

Earlier, at the end of July, the head of the European Commission had already spokethat 70% of Europeans received the first vaccination, 67% of EU citizens were fully vaccinated at that time. “The Indian strain of the delta coronavirus is very dangerous. I urge everyone who can get vaccinated, ”she said.

In the EU, drugs from Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson are used for vaccination. “Sputnik V” from the Gamaleya Center (it became “the first in the world”) has not yet been registered in the EU countries. In January, RDIF filed an application for registration of the drug in the EMA. The regulator began its examination of the Sputnik dossier in March. In June, Reuters citing sources wrotethat the registration of “Sputnik V” in the European Union was postponed at least until the end of the year.
