In the next two or three years, the capacity of waste dumps in 20 regions of Russia will end, their capacity will be exhausted. About it stated Head of the RF Ministry of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov.
“There are big risks in 20 regions – St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Kuban, Leningrad, Magadan, Novosibirsk and other regions. The capacities there will be exhausted in the next two or three years, ”Kozlov said.
According to him, in these regions until the beginning of 2023, landfills with waste will also be closed, the work of which is currently temporarily allowed. In particular, five districts in the Krasnodar Territory transport waste to the landfill, which is already being depleted.
The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources noted that the lack of capacity for waste disposal, which forces the use of illegal dumps, is already observed in nine regions of Russia, these are Transbaikalia, Kamchatka, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Magadan and Novosibirsk regions, Dagestan, Yakutia, Chukotka and Sevastopol.
The Russian environmental operator has drawn up an action plan with the regions. “The infrastructure for sorting and burying waste, for creating landfills has been planned for everyone. The regions will have to accelerate and ensure the implementation of these projects, ”Kozlov said.
The minister expressed the hope that the regional governors will treat this anxiously, because “if this problem overwhelms the cities, it will not seem to anyone.”
