The test launch of the Rocket-3 carrier rocket of the American company Astra ended in failure. Broadcast was conducted on the company’s website.
The launch took place on Kodiak Island in Alaska on Saturday night. The rocket began to deviate from the given trajectory already at the start, without gaining altitude, but still managed to rise. After two and a half minutes of flight, the rocket’s engines turned off, and then the broadcast from the cameras installed on it was interrupted.
Earlier, Astra postponed the launch of the Rocket-3 rocket due to failures in the control system. The company has signed an agreement with the US Space Force for two test flights with a mock payload. If both missions succeed, Astra will become the Pentagon’s contractor for the program to launch military satellites into Earth orbit.
