The painting “Pink on White” by artist Artyom Loskutov, made in support of media “foreign agents”, was bought at an online auction for 230 thousand rubles. About it reported on the artist’s Twitter page. The name of the buyer of the painting was not disclosed.
The painting depicts the logo of the Dozhd TV channel, made using the cudgel painting technique. When painting such a canvas, the artist strikes the canvas with a rubber baton filled with paint.
“Dedicated to all foreign agents, as well as apples in the snow,” wrote earlier Artem Loskutov. On the air of “Rain” artist notedthat to write the picture he was prompted by “events happening around” journalism and publications that were included in the list of “foreign agents”. “All this, of course, is rather sad,” said Loskutov.
August 20 Ministry of Justice included “Dozhd” in the register of “foreign agents” media. The department explained its decision by the fact that the TV channel received more than 130 thousand euros from the European Union under an agreement with the European Commission “for the coverage of relations between the EU and Russia.” In addition, Rosfinmonitoring established that the channel received “indirect foreign funding through Russian funds,” the Ministry of Justice claims.
The editor-in-chief of Dozhd, Tikhon Dzyadko, explained that the channel had notified Roskomnadzor of the agreement with the EU, and also received money from Russian funds. The Dozhd leadership was not aware of their foreign funding.
Also, over the past four months, the Russian authorities have recognized The Insider, Meduza, Important Stories and dozens of journalists as “foreign agents”. In total, the register now contains 43 media and individuals.
