The Pskov Regional Court removed from the elections the deputy of the regional assembly, the current municipal deputy, a member of the Yabloko party and activist Nikolai Kuzmin for supporting the politician Alexei Navalny. About it informs “North. Realities”.
A lawsuit against Kuzmin was filed by his rival in the district, running for the Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice, the ex-head of the city police department Dzhemal Malyshev.
He attached to the application a screenshot from social networks with a photograph from four years ago, in which Kuzmin was photographed with Navalny. He also found pictures from the protests in 2017, in which Kuzmin participated. In addition, Malyshev wrote in a statement that an administrative case was drawn up against Kuzmin for a protest in support of Navalny on January 23. The deputy was then detained 7 minutes before the official start of the rally. Malyshev demanded that Kuzmin be removed from the elections under the law “on extremist organizations.”
On August 3, 2021, the Election Commission of the Pskov Region refused to register for the elections to the regional assembly, the head of the regional branch of the Yabloko party, Lev Shlosberg, due to “involvement in the activities of a public association carrying out extremist activities,” which meant the Anti-Corruption Foundation of Alexei Navalny. Later it was restored to them. The election commission then explained that the policy was restored, since at the time of registration the decision to ban and liquidate the FBK had not come into legal force.
