Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the dismissal of the Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC) Rostislav Rassokhov. Document published on the portal of legal information.
He became the deputy of Alexander Bastrykin in May last year. Prior to that, he served as head of the Main Directorate for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases (GUROVD) of the UK. In the department, he supervised the work of the GUROVD and the forensic department. In 2019, Rassokhov was promoted to Lieutenant General of Justice.
In March, Kommersant learnedthat Rassokhov was demoted. Issues related to the activities of the Directorate for Especially Important Cases (GUROVD) were removed from its jurisdiction. Instead, the general began to control the work of the central administrations and directorates of the Investigative Committee of the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts and supervise the activities of the Rodina sanatorium.
Rassokhov is remembered as the curator of the criminal case against the former Minister of the “Open Government” Mikhail Abyzov. He has been in jail since March 2019 on charges of creating a criminal community (parts 2 and 3 of article 210 of the Criminal Code) and fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code). According to consequences, the minister stole 4 billion rubles from the shareholders of the Siberian Energy Company (SIBEKO) and Regional Electric Networks. In addition, Abyzova accused in the sale of SIBEKO shares for 32.5 billion rubles, which were credited to the accounts of companies controlled by the minister.
