Earlier, Roskomnadzor sent letters to Apple Google asking them to remove the Navalny application from the App Store and Google Play, explaining this to those who are demanding by the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office to “restrict access to information resources related to the organization of the Anti-Corruption Fund”. Roskomnadzor said that the application is used “to promote the activities and implementation of activities of extremist organizations.”
In July, Roskomnadzor blocked the websites of Navalny, projects of the Anti-Corruption Foundation and the politician’s regional headquarters. Also, access to the websites of Lyubov Sobol, Leonid Volkov, projects “RosYama”, “Alliance of Doctors” and “RosZhKH” and “Freedom to Navalny” is limited.
The reason for the blocking was Article 15.3 of the Federal Law “On Information”, which provides for the prohibition of resources “containing calls for mass riots, the implementation of extremist activities and participation in mass events.”
