Ilya Vasyunin, an employee of the state television channel RT, who was detained on August 21 during a picket in Lubyanka, was released from the police two days later. About this “Mediazone” reported OVD-Info lawyer Sergey Telnov.

A protocol was drawn up against Vasyunin on participation in an unauthorized action (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). This article provides for a fine of up to 20 thousand rubles. Initially, the RT employee wanted impute h. 8 art. 20.2 of the Administrative Code (in July last year he was already fined for a picket near the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Petrovka). It turned out that the court made this decision more than a year ago.

The pickets for freedom of the press took place on Saturday, August 21, near the main FSB building in Lubyanka – the day after the Dozhd TV channel and Vosthnye Stories were entered into the register of media-“foreign agents”. 12 people were detained at the action. By data “OVD-Info”, eight journalists, two activists and students of Moscow State University were taken to the department. Almost all of them drew up protocols on violation of the established procedure for holding a protest action (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Administrative Code).

Vasyunin went to the picket with a placard with the words “Enough to arrange Ukraine here.” In the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Meshchansky district, he spent two days. According to the police, Vasyunin “was aware of the illegal nature of his actions” and “voluntarily assumed and performed the functions of a participant in a public event.”
