Putin named the airport in Grozny after Akhmat Kadyrov



The airport in Grozny will be named after the first president of Chechnya, Akhmat Kadyrov, from 23 August. The decree of the head of state was published on the official portal legal information.

The renaming of the airport is timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the birth of Akhmat Kadyrov.

Akhmad Kadyrov died on May 9, 2004 as a result of a terrorist attack at the Dynamo stadium in Grozny. During the Victory Day celebrations, an explosive device went off under the guest tribune where Kadyrov was present. In total, as a result of the terrorist attack, seven people were killed, more than 60 were injured.

Formerly BBC Russian Service countedthat in Chechnya 346 streets and lanes are named after members of the family of the head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov.
