The Preobrazhensky District Court of Moscow sentenced the former coordinator of Navalny’s Moscow headquarters, Oleg Stepanov, to one year of restriction of freedom on a “sanitary case”. About it informs Mediazona with reference to the press service of the court.

Stepanov was found guilty of inciting violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules (part 4 of article 33, part 1 of article 236 of the Criminal Code) at a January rally in support of Navalny.

The oppositionist’s companion was banned from leaving Moscow, leaving the house from 22:00 to 6:00, as well as changing his place of residence and participating in mass rallies. In addition, he was obliged to report to the inspection twice a month.

Earlier, sentences in the “sanitary case” were passed to other Navalny’s associates – Lyubov Sobol, Kira Yarmysh, Nikolai Lyaskin and Oleg Navalny. All of them, with the exception of Oleg Navalny, were assigned a restriction of freedom. Navalny’s brother received a suspended year.

The case also includes the Mundep and Pussy Riot member Lucy Stein, as well as the head of the Alliance of Doctors Anastasia Vasilyeva, the Mundep Dmitry Baranovsky and Pussy Riot member Maria Alekhina.

According to the investigation, the persons involved in the “sanitary case” published on social networks calls for a rally in support of Navalny and other political prisoners on 23 January. According to the employees of the Investigative Committee, because of this, protesters arrived in the center of Moscow, who were supposed to be in quarantine, which allegedly created a threat of “mass disease of people.”
