Militants of the terrorist “Taliban” who seized Afghanistan opened fire at a rally in honor of Independence Day in the city of Asadabad (Kunar province), informs Reuters citing eyewitnesses.
After the participants in the movement started shooting, a stampede began at the rally. At least five people died, about 20 were injured. The exact number of victims has not been specified. Taliban representatives did not comment on the shooting at the shares.
Assadabad is located in the east of Afghanistan, not far from Jalalabad, where on the eve of August 18, there were protests against the Taliban. Clashes broke out between the protesters and the security forces, the Taliban also opened fire – three people were killed. According to a RIA Novosti source, 12 people were injured as a result of the shooting, two died. Then the Taliban representative statedthat civilians should surrender weapons and ammunition to members of the movement.
On August 15, the Taliban entered Kabul and announced that they were in control of the entire country. The terrorists began their attack in the spring after US President Joe Biden announced the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. After the Taliban seized power, the US and EU countries began to evacuate both their citizens and peaceful Afghans from the country. People who wanted to leave the country began to arrive at the Kabul airport, a stampede began, in which perished about 20 people.
