The Gamaleya Center of the Russian Ministry of Health has created a version of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, modified for the delta strain. About it informs “Interfax” with reference to the director of the center, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Gintsburg.
“There is already a vaccine design in the refrigerator,” the agency quoted Gunzburg as saying. At the same time, the academician said that it is too early to talk about the degree of effectiveness of the modified vaccine.
At the end of July, Rinat Maksyutov, head of the Vector Center of Rospotrebnadzor statedthat the strain delta accounts for more than 95% of the cases of coronavirus infection detected in Russia.
According to data Headquarters, a total of 6 663 473 cases of coronavirus in 85 regions were detected in Russia. For the entire period recorded 172 909 deaths, 5,939,037 people recovered. By calculations Bloomberg, 22.4% of Russians are fully vaccinated.
