Former director of “Open Russia” Pivovarov from the pre-trial detention center asked Kiriyenko to vouch for him during the elections

The ex-director of Open Russia, Andrei Pivovarov, wrote an open letter from the pre-trial detention center to the first deputy head of the presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, in which he asked to vouch for him during the election campaign to the State Duma. About it informs Kommersant.

“Your guarantee, I am sure, will become a convincing argument for the court to choose a recognizance not to leave or bail. I give you public guarantees that I will not run away, and if necessary, I am ready to even return to prison after the elections, ”the oppositionist wrote.

In the letter, Pivovarov calls Kiriyenko a “former party member” in the Union of Right Forces and emphasizes that he campaigned for him in the 1999 Duma elections.

“After 20 years, you occupy a high Kremlin post, and I am behind bars for opposition activities,” the politician writes.

We will remind, Andrey Pivovarov was detained on May 31 in St. Petersburg and taken to the Kuban. He is accused of carrying out the activities of an undesirable organization, the oppositionist is arrested.

Pivovarov insists on his innocence. In his opinion, the criminal prosecution is connected with the desire to restrict his political activities before the elections to the State Duma.

At the same time, the statement of the organization’s employees emphasized that they will continue to “support independent politicians, engage in education and provide legal support to victims of arbitrary power – to the best of their ability.”
