The Tagansky District Court of Moscow satisfied the claim of the prosecutor’s office and blocked the sites of the “Eye of God” platform, with the help of which it was possible to obtain personal data of Russians based on information from open databases. About it informs TASS.
The information on the site is recognized as “information, the distribution of which is prohibited in the Russian Federation.”
The official representative of the “Eyes of God” Sergei Kalenik said that blocking the site will not affect the service in any way.
“We just blocked one of our sites, but we stopped using the sites or our bot for half a year already – now everything is decentralized and each user creates his own bot – we do not see a decrease in traffic or any negative effects from blocking this site. Now the service is working fine, including the mirrors of our sites, ”he said.
On July 1, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow declared illegal the work of the Telegram channel “Eye of God”. Earlier, Roskomnadzor found that the channel violates the rights of citizens by providing access to their personal data without their consent. In turn, Kalenik then said that the court had banned not this channel, but a similar one with the same name.
In early April, searches were carried out at the creator of the bot, Evgeny Antipov.
In March of this year, Roskomnadzor already turned to Telegram administrators with a request to restrict the bot’s work and this requirement was met, but then the service started working at a new address.
With the help of the “Eye of God” bot, you can find out the name and surname of a person by phone number. Its creators claim that this information is taken from open data.
