Afghan President Ashraf Ghani resigned and flew to Tajikistan, informs Asia-Plus citing Afghan official Sajad Nuristani. According to him, Ashraf Ghani is accompanied by his national security adviser Hamdullah Muhib and the head of the administration Fazl Mahmoud Fazli.
From Tajikistan, Ghani is to fly to a third country, the name of which is not yet known.
Earlier, sources told the media that Ashraf Ghani in the coming hours fold with their powers, after which an interim government will be formed with the participation of the Taliban, who took control of almost all of Afghanistan and blocked the capital. 80-year-old Ali Ahmad Jalali will be appointed head of Afghanistan’s transitional government, Al Arabiya TV reported. Previously, he worked as a journalist for the Voice of America radio station, was the Ambassador of Afghanistan to Germany, and from January 2003 to September 2005 he headed the Afghan Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Since October 2005, Jalali has been Professor Emeritus at the Center for Strategic Studies in the Middle East and South Asia (NESA) at the National Defense University in Washington. Since 1987 he has been a US citizen.
