Painkillers were taken away from Yuri Zhdanov, the father of Ivan Zhdanov, director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), who was in the pre-trial detention center. He announced this in a letter that published lawyer Vladimir Voronin.
“I can’t sit, lie down, write, think, live — I can’t do anything. Dull endless pain throughout the body. There were pain-relieving pills in the sachet, but during the evening chase, the sachet was seized and thrown away, ”wrote Yuri Zhdanov.
July 19 Yuri Zhdanov left in a pre-trial detention center and extended his preventive measure for another four months. Prior to that, it was reported that he was transferred to a prison hospital.
Zhdanov, 66, was arrested on March 29 on charges of abuse of office. A criminal case was opened due to the fact that he, being a member of the housing commission, recommended to the head of the Seekers settlement to allocate an apartment to a local resident under a social tenancy agreement. Later the contract was terminated, the administration returned the apartment through the court. Ivan Zhdanov noted that a year ago the check on this case did not reveal any violations, and the head of the village, by whose order the apartment was allocated, did not become a defendant in the criminal case.
In May, Yuri Zhdanov was re-qualified the article on abuse of office (part 1 of article 286 of the Criminal Code) to more serious articles on official forgery (article 292 of the Criminal Code) and fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code).
Initially, he was placed in SIZO-5 of the Rostov Region, but then he was transferred to SIZO-1 in the Arkhangelsk Region. There his health condition deteriorated.
In June, the Moscow City Court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation, the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens’ Rights and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as extremist organizations. Former FBK director Ivan Zhdanov was put on the international wanted list.
