Former presidential candidate Andrei Dmitriev detained in Belarus

In Belarus, the presidential candidate in the 2020 elections, Andrei Dmitriev, was detained. About it informs Belarusian human rights center “Viasna”.

Dmitriev is the co-chair of Tell the Truth and a delegate to the Gathering platform.

On the eve of the delegates of the “Gathering” searches were carried out. It is known about the detention of several delegates, in particular the former Ambassador of Belarus to Slovakia Igor Leshchen.

Research and educational public association “Tell the Truth”, co-chaired by Dmitriev, was registered in Belarus in May 2017. On July 13 this year, it became known that the Ministry of Justice began an unscheduled audit of its activities.
