Kamchatka fishery, deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly Igor Redkin, suspect in the murder of a man at a garbage dump in the village of Ozernovsky, Ust-Bolsheretsky district of the region, will be placed under house arrest. About it reported Interfax at the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City Court.

“With respect to Igor Redkin, a measure of restraint has been chosen in the form of house arrest for a period of two months,” the court said. Accused of murder included in the top twenty the richest officials according to Forbes.

On Tuesday, the press service of the regional department of the RF IC announced the initiation of a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder) in connection with the death of a 30-year-old resident of the village of Ozernovsky. According to the investigation, on the evening of August 2, 2021, he was wounded by a gunshot at a local dump and died in hospital. The RF IC added that after that, a 55-year-old local resident was detained. On the same day, Redkin’s official representative Olga Struchenko circulated in the media his statement, in which the businessman says that he had become “an unwitting participant in the tragedy” and “is ready to bear the punishment that will be determined by the court.”

According to the deputy, he went to the dump with a gun to protect local residents from a bear. Redkin allegedly opened fire to scare the beast away. Local residents questioned this version. The villagers believe that the deputy went on a “safari”: bears regularly come to the dump. They are attracted by the smell of waste, and some businessmen, taking advantage of this, shoot animals. “Killing bears within settlements where hunting is generally prohibited is something of a lord’s fun,” says Alexander Ivanov, head of the regional branch of the Business Against Corruption center.

Igor Redkin does not hide his passion for hunting. On his WhatsApp avatar, he posted a picture where he was captured together with three dead and bloody wolves, notes “New Newspaper”.

According to the newspaper, Andrei Tolstopyatov died at the hands of the deputy, who came to the dump with his uncle Sergei to collect metal. The men were next to the truck, which had an arrow extended to load metal into the back. Shots rang out in the twilight. The metal collectors did not see the shooter, and no one reacted to Sergei’s shouts to stop firing. As a result, one of the bullets (and there were about ten shots in total) hit the truck from behind, pierced it and wounded Andrey, who was in the cockpit. Sergei took his nephew to the hospital, where he died.

Source of “Kam24” in law enforcement agencies considersthat a criminal case can be re-qualified to Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder by negligence). In this case, the deputy faces a sentence of two years in prison.

In 2017, Igor Redkin, a member of United Russia, almost became a defendant in a criminal case. Then he had a conflict with businessman Anatoly Rybachenko from Ozernovsky. He claims that the deputy allegedly attacked him, tried to strangle him and even threatened to kill him. Rybachenko turned to the Investigative Committee for help, but they refused to initiate a case. Soon after the completion of the check, unknown persons damaged Anatoly’s boat and cut the tires on his GAZ-66 car. Rybachenko suggested that this could be revenge and turned to the police. But he was again refused to initiate a criminal case “for the absence of a crime event.”

Igor Redkin is a very influential person in the region. He also ranks 20th in the Forbes ranking of the richest civil servants and deputies in 2021 with revenues of 715.7 million rubles, and last year he ranked 9th with revenues of 1.44 billion rubles.

Redkin owns fishing and aviation companies (Vityaz-Avto, Vityaz-Aero, etc.), and is building a five-star hotel in the center of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. According to media reports, he owns property in Spain.

On March 22, on the day of the deputy’s 55th birthday, the governor presented him with the badge “Honorary Worker of the Fisheries of the Russian Federation”.
