New psychiatric examination conducted by specialists from the Institute named after V.I. VP Serbsky, in the case of the Khachaturian sisters, established that the murder was due to the abuse of the girls’ father with them and their stress disorder and fear of him. About it informs TASS with reference to the lawyer of one of the sisters.

The examination confirmed the facts of the father’s abuse and sexual abuse of his daughters, previously established by other experts.

Since 2014, each of the girls has suffered from the syndrome of abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder – all these diseases have a direct causal relationship between the actions of Mikhail Khachaturyan and the disorders found in his daughters, the examination showed.

“None of the victims could resist Khachaturian at the moment he was committing criminal acts. They assessed the situation as hopeless and felt fear for their lives and health, ”says the results of a psychological and psychiatric examination in relation to each of the girls.

In March 2021, the Khachaturian sisters were recognized as victims in a criminal case against their father who had been killed by them.

The Investigative Committee has posthumously opened a case against Mikhail Khachaturyan on three counts of sexual and other violence against his daughters.

Khachaturian’s murder was committed on July 27, 2018. On August 2 of the same year, the girls were arrested. The actions of Krestina and Angelina Khachaturian were qualified as premeditated murder by a preliminary conspiracy, committed by a group of persons (clause “g”, part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code). According to the version of the investigation, the defendants and their sister Maria, who was later recognized as insane, stabbed their father to death after he fell asleep.

In the summer of 2019, the materials concerning the sisters’ father were separated from their case. The investigation saw in his actions signs of torture, violent acts of a sexual nature and coercion into acts of a sexual nature (Articles 117, 132 and 133 of the Criminal Code).

However, in August 2019, the IC officially notified the sisters’ lawyers about the refusal to initiate a criminal case against Mikhail Khachaturyan. The formal reason for the refusal was his death, the lawyers said.

In December 2020, the Basmanny Court of Moscow declared illegal the refusal of the investigator to open a criminal case against the late Khachaturian.
