In Yakutia, hundreds of students were sent to extinguish forest fires

Over 250 people from student groups of Yakutia went to different regions of the republic to extinguish forest fires. Aisen Soloviev noted that a total of 252 representatives of student groups went to extinguish the fires as seasonal workers and mobilized. At the moment, 146 people are directly working on extinguishing.

The recruitment of construction brigades to fight the fires continues. “The recruited young person must be over 18 years old and have no health restrictions. Also, in some cases, a fighter must be vaccinated against the coronavirus, ”said Solovyov.

The forest fire brigade “Prometheus – 2021” was created this year within the framework of an agreement signed between GAU “Yakutlesresurs”, the Yakut regional branch of the youth all-Russian public organization “Russian student brigades” and the youth government of Yakutia. The work of the detachment is carried out with the support of the North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU), SPO institutions and the public volunteer headquarters of Yakutia to combat forest fires.

Yakutia is one of the most flammable regions of the Russian Federation, since July 1, residents are prohibited from visiting forests. On August 9, a regional emergency regime was introduced in the republic in connection with the transition of forest fires in the territory of settlements and economic facilities. At the same time, an emergency regime was introduced in the Irkutsk Region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory (in the Evenk Municipal Formation) and the Chukotka District (the Bilibinsky Municipal Formation).

Forest fires blaze throughout Siberia, and smoke from them obscures Ural and Kazakhstan, as well as the Arctic. In Bashkiria, for example, 27 fires have been identified. The republic’s authorities also involve young people in extinguishing forest fires. “We have equipment – shovels, dry rations, handkerchiefs, everything we need, the State Committee for Youth Policy has provided us. We will also be given extinguishing agents in the form of knapsack fire extinguishers. We will put out the fire and eliminate the consequences of the fire. The staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will determine our tasks, in which specific area we will be more needed “, – told “Bashinform” volunteer Alexander Yudin.

Because of the burning, the residents of Siberia and the Urals are exacerbated by diseases of the respiratory system. The smoke also disrupted flights and led to flight delays at Siberian airports.
