The Belgorod Regional Court issued an acquittal to a resident of Belgorod, accused of murdering a seriously ill spouse, informs Interfax with reference to the press service of the court. The woman had been caring for him for decades, since the man could not move and eat on his own.
The verdict was passed on the basis of the jury’s verdict, which on August 6 unanimously acquitted the 59-year-old resident of Belgorod “for the absence of a crime event” said in a court press release.
As reported in a press release from the regional department of the RF IC, the defendant has been married since the 1980s, worked as a nurse and for more than 20 years looked after her husband, who suffered a stroke and was paralyzed on the left side of the body. The spouse became irritable from helplessness and took out his anger on his wife. In November 2019, she strangled her 76-year-old husband in an apartment at home on Shalandin Street, wrote “TVNZ”.
A criminal case was initiated against the woman under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of a person, knowingly for the guilty person who is in a helpless state). She was threatened with punishment up to life imprisonment.
