The public council under the Ministry of Culture did not agree with the ministry itself about the intention to check the theater repertoire for compliance with Russia’s national security strategy. About it stated the head of the department Olga Lyubimova.
“There is no point in attributing ideas and judgments of individual members of the public council to the department. These proposals were not discussed with us, ”the press service of the Ministry of Culture quotes Lyubimova.
At the same time, the head of the department recalled that censorship in Russia is unacceptable in accordance with the Constitution. “At the same time, if there are violations of the current legislation in the field of culture, then the competent authorities have the right to give them an appropriate assessment,” she added.
We will remind, on the eve it became known that the public council under the Ministry of Culture will assess the repertoire of theaters for compliance with the national security strategy. Director Konstantin Bogomolov in an interview with The Insider toldthat he personally “does not care” about this.
“Apparently, someone needs it. Whoever has what hurts, he is counting on that. I’m not worried about that. If they check, then let them check. We have nothing to hide in the theater, ”Bogomolov noted.
On July 29, the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered to check the production of “The First Bread” of the Moscow Sovremennik Theater for possible “insult to veterans.” The “Officers of Russia” organization complained about the performance to the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Moscow Mayor’s Office. They said that the production “uses excessively profanity” and “blatant propaganda of same-sex love.” And in the monologue of the heroine of the play, played by the actress Liya Akhedzhakova, according to the “Officers of Russia”, there is an insult to the veterans.
