Record heat breaks out large fires in Greece

Large fires were recorded on the Peloponnese and the island of Rhodes. The fire in the Peloponnese in the Achaea region has already covered more than 3 thousand hectares of pine forests and olive groves.

The authorities carried out the evacuation of residents from five settlements on the seashore. At least eight people were hospitalized with burns and respiratory problems.

According to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Greece has faced the worst heat since 1987. According to the meteorological service, the minimum temperature will not drop below 26-27 degrees throughout the country, which will increase the “feeling of discomfort.” At the same time, according to forecasts, the thermometer may reach 45 degrees on Monday.
