Center “Violence.net” will help victims of domestic violence in Moscow with an emergency shelter

Center “Violence.net” announced that from August it will provide SOS-accommodation in hotels and hostels in Moscow to those who have suffered from domestic violence. About it informs “Medusa” with a link to the message of the center.

Women over 18 years old who are in a critical life situation will be able to get free asylum: for them, physical violence or the threat of its use, persecution by a former partner is actual. Assistance is provided to women who cannot pay for their accommodation on their own. Project participants will be able to stay in hostels and hotels for up to 21 days.

In Russia, at least five thousand women died from domestic violence in 2018, according to a study prepared by experts from the Consortium of Women’s Non-Governmental Organizations. This is 20 times the police data.

Center “Violence.net” was recognized as a “foreign agent” at the end of December 2020.
