Amendments to the laws, which came into force on August 1, allowed the extraction of Red Book animals in Russia. In the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported TASS that this will be possible “in exceptional cases in order to preserve the objects of the animal world.”
Amendments were made to the federal laws “On the animal world” and “On hunting and on the preservation of hunting resources and on amending certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation.”
The production of Red Data Book animals is permitted for the purpose of monitoring them, regulating their numbers, protecting public health, eliminating threats to human life, protecting agricultural and other domestic animals from massive diseases, as well as ensuring the traditional way of life of the indigenous peoples of Russia. The mining permit will be issued by Rospotrebnadzor.
