BioBlock nasal spray protecting against coronavirus created in Estonia

Estonian scientists have created a spray against coronavirus that protects against all types of strains that exist at the moment, transfers portal Postimees.

According to laboratory studies, the created spray provides protection against both the original “Wuhan” strain of the coronavirus and the strain of Indian origin, as well as against the “British”, “South African” and “Brazilian” strains.

Icosagen’s scientific director, genetic engineering specialist, Mart Charter Jr, explained that the developed spray called BioBlock is capable of completely preventing COVID-19 infection.

“Together with our team, we are constantly monitoring changes in the virus and testing the ability of the BioBlock nasal spray to neutralize those strains that are not yet widespread,” explained the Charter.

According to the portal, permission for the production of BioBlock spray was given by the country’s Department of Health based on the opinion of a group of experts on related products, including specialists from the Department of Medicines, Health, Agriculture and Food, as well as the Department of Consumer Protection and Technical Supervision.

This development is not a drug.

According to scientists, BioBlock is an innovative Estonian product, for the creation of which a consortium of scientists from Chemi-Pharm, Icosagen, as well as specialists from the University of Tartu, the Estonian University of Life Sciences and OÜ Teadus ja Tegu was formed.
