The Oktyabrsky District Court of Irkutsk sentenced two ex-police officers Arkady Lyubimov and Alexander Ankheev to 4 years in a penal colony for abuse of office committed with the use of special means (part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code). About it reported on the court website.
According to the investigation, in February 2020, two officers of the separate battalion of the patrol and guard service of the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation “Irkutskoye” stunned a sleeping taxi passenger, Dmitry Kharchenko, who was drunk. Kharchenko died from the received current discharge.
In addition, those sentenced to 2 years were deprived of the right to hold positions in law enforcement and state bodies.
The death of a taxi passenger, which occurred after police officers hit him with an electric shock, became known in February last year. According to the deputy of the local city council Alexander Kvasov, the incident took place on February 15.
How reported on his Facebook page, the mother of the deceased, late at night Kharchenko was in a taxi after a nightclub, was drunk and fell asleep. The driver could not wake him up and turned to the police for help. The officers of the patrol service Ankheev and Lyubimov decided to wake the man up with an electric shock, as a result of which the young man died.
After the inspection, the police were excited a criminal case of abuse of office with the use of special equipment and causing grave consequences. They were removed from service and taken into custody for 2 months.
