Former editor-in-chief of “Project” Roman Badanin and his deputy Mikhail Rubin left Russia, they are now in the United States. About this Badanin stated to Reuters.
Badanin also said that he was in charge of the urgent evacuation of other Project employees from Russia.
“We are trying to evacuate employees … to one of the nearby countries,” he said.
According to Badanin, he does not plan to return to Russia in the near future, as he may face criminal prosecution.
He noted that he does not yet know where he will settle, and that he is in New York only temporarily. He was on vacation with his wife and children abroad when The Project was labeled “undesirable,” and immediately decided not to return to Russia.
In July, Badanin and four more journalists from the Project made in the register of the media of “foreign agents”, and the publisher of “Project”, the American organization Project Media Inc, recognized as “undesirable”.
