In Russia, more than 21 million people received the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine, stated Head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.
“About 20 million people have completed the full cycle of vaccination with Sputnik V, about a million people have completed the full cycle of vaccination with EpiVacCorona, and the full cycle of vaccination with the vaccine made by the Chumakov Institute is about 300 thousand,” Popova explained during her speech at the Russian Society “Knowledge “.
Such calculations, according to Popova, were made on the basis of data from two registers of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation – a list of those vaccinated against COVID-19 and a list of those who have had coronavirus.
As noted by Popova, this fact proves the effectiveness of vaccination on “a large population of data that simply cannot be ignored.”
At the same time, the head of Rospotrebnadzor stressed that no more than 0.8% of those vaccinated with a full cycle of any of the vaccines get coronavirus.
Earlier, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that about 35 million people received the first component of the coronavirus vaccine in Russia, 2 million of whom were vaccinated in recent weeks.
Vaccinations in Russia have been taking place since December 2020, since January they have been carried out on a massive scale on behalf of Vladimir Putin.
By comparison, in the United States, 50.5% of the vaccinated population has received at least one dose, and about 41% are already fully vaccinated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Among those 18 years of age and older, approximately 63% received one or more doses.
In the European Union, as of early June, 80 million people out of the block’s 500 million population were fully vaccinated against coronavirus.
