In Russia, it is planned to work out new measures to combat smoking, reported in his Telegram channel, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health Oleg Salagay.
Among the new measures, it is planned to introduce a ban on the use of flavors, dyes and addiction-enhancing additives in all nicotine-containing products. Introduce the production of standard-sized and non-personalized packages, 75% of the area will be occupied by pictures or photographs about the dangers of smoking. And also prohibit the classification of tobacco products by the level of toxic substances.
The deputy minister also notes, citing data from the WHO, that the sale of electronic nicotine delivery systems is currently banned in 32 countries. An additional 79 countries have introduced at least one partial restriction, banning the use of such products in public places, their advertising, promotion and sponsorship, or requiring warnings on packaging.
In Russia, Salagai writes, a comprehensive anti-tobacco law was adopted last year, containing the main measures aimed at protecting against tobacco smoke. Electronic cigarettes are virtually equal to conventional cigarettes in terms of regulation. But, according to the Deputy Minister, in order to ensure a sustainable reduction in the burden of nicotine addiction, it is important to develop and take new measures.
