In Kaliningrad, the Regional Election Commission (OEC) banned Ivan Luzin from running for the State Duma, who was a member of the local headquarters of Alexei Navalny and participated in the action in support of the founder of the FBK on April 21. About it informs “New Newspaper”.
According to Luzin, the day before he received a call from the regional election commission and was invited to “check the documents.” During the meeting, Luzin was informed of the refusal to register, citing a letter received from the Ministry of Justice, which indicated that Luzin was a member of one of Navalny’s headquarters and was brought to administrative punishment for participating in the spring protests in support of the politician.
Luzin ran for the city parliament as a self-nominated candidate. At the end of June, he submitted the necessary documents to the commission, after which he was allowed to open an electoral account and start collecting signatures. At the moment, Luzin also began collecting signatures for elections to the City Council of Kaliningrad.
Today, the territorial election commission of St. Petersburg also annulled the nomination of a candidate for deputy to the Legislative Assembly Irina Fatyanova, who previously headed the local headquarters of Navalny. Fatyanova was also removed from the elections because of a letter from the Ministry of Justice, which spoke of her connection with an “extremist organization.”
“We read the documents. Allegedly, Irina Fatyanova is the leader of an extremist cell right now. Strongly, ”explained the head of her campaign headquarters, Ilya Lyubimov, stressing that as of July 27, Fatyanova“ is not the head of any organization, ”and the commission’s documents confirm this.
Irina Fatyanova herself intends to continue the fight and appeal. “If someone thinks that I will step aside and will not fight my right to participate in the elections, they are very mistaken. There is now no legal basis for my withdrawal. In the Gorizibrkom this issue has already been raised and the position has been announced. This decision speaks only of cowardice “, – wrote she’s on her Twitter page.
At the moment, Irina Fatyanova and her team continue to collect signatures.
“We started a week and a half later than all the other self-nominated candidates in the city, and we are already collecting many times more,” she told The Insider.
