The Russian women’s team lost to the Korean team in the final of the archery tournament at the Tokyo Olympics. This was reported by the Russian Olympic Committee.
The Korean women won the meeting with a score of 6: 0.
The Russian team was represented by Svetlana Gomboeva, Elena Osipova and Ksenia Perova. On the way to the final, they defeated Ukraine (6: 2), the USA (6: 0) and Germany (5: 1).
Russian athletes are now in fifth place in the medal standings. The national team has one gold (Russian Vitalina Batsarashkina took first place in air pistol shooting from 10 meters), two silver and one bronze (on July 24, Russian athletes won silver in air rifle shooting from a distance of 10 meters and bronze in taekwondo in the weight category up to 58 kg).
Recall that in December 2019, the Athletes Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) recommended that Russia be barred from participating in international competitions for four years due to violations in the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory. According to WADA, the laboratory falsified the results of tests intended for transmission to the World Anti-Doping Agency. The organization claimed that the information had been forged for a year and a half.
In addition, civil servants of the Russian Federation and the leadership of the ROC and the PKR, by the decision of the committee, are prohibited from attending international sports events.
At the same time, Russian athletes who have not been noticed in doping violations are allowed to compete under a neutral flag and without performing the national anthem.
