According to the Kyrgyz department, in the Kum-Mazar area of the Batken district of the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan, residents of the border region of Tajikistan, without the consent of the Kyrgyz side, began to clean up the site, which led to a conflict. Border guards of Kyrgyzstan, representatives of local authorities and local residents arrived at the scene.
“The Tajik side did not obey the demands of the Kyrgyz side to stop the work. Citizens of Tajikistan tried to beat up a citizen of Kyrgyzstan. The verbal skirmish turned into a fight and throwing stones at each other. During the conflict, the Tajik border guards fired shots towards Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz border guards fired back shots towards Tajikistan, ”the Border Service said.
As a result of the exchange of fire, there were no wounded or injured. Now a meeting is being held on the spot at the level of border representatives of the parties with the participation of employees of local government and law enforcement agencies.
