The Russian Football Union (RFU) has appointed Valery Karpin as the new coach of the Russian national football team. About it it says in the RFU official Telegram channel.
“Valery Karpin needs no introduction to football experts and fans. He was one of the best Russian players of his generation, playing well for both clubs and the Russian national team. After completing his player career, Valery Georgievich gained rich coaching experience, including successfully working in the Rostov club in recent years. The national team is a new challenge for him. And we saw on his part the desire and readiness to accept this challenge, ”said RFU President Alexander Dyukov.
Karpin himself noted that for him this appointment will be “a new, very important and interesting stage in his coaching career.”
On July 8, 2021, the contract with the coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov was terminated.
“Together with Stanislav Salamovich we made a decision to terminate his contract. The Russian Football Union will begin searching for candidates for the position of head coach, who will prepare the team for the qualifying matches of the 2022 World Cup, ”said RFU President Alexander Dyukov.
