The Investigative Committee (IC) of Belarus sent Yegor Martinovich, editor-in-chief of the Nasha Niva newspaper, to a pre-trial detention center. About it it says in the publication’s Telegram channel.
According to “Nasha Niva”, in addition to Martinovich, the head of the advertising department of the publication Andrei Skurko will be in custody.
On July 13, Nasha Niva announced the termination of its activities in Belarus due to increased pressure from the security forces. The editorial board explains the corresponding decision by safety reasons. Nasha Niva will operate outside the country.
July 8 Ministry of Information of Belarus limited access to the site of “Nasha Niva”. The newspaper’s accountants and the houses of its journalists were searched. The editor-in-chief of Nasha Niva, Yegor Martinovich, and three other employees were detained for 72 hours.
The next day became knownthat Martinovic was beaten during the arrest, he had a head injury.
