Throughout the territory of Karelia, due to forest fires, an emergency regime has been introduced, informs Interfax with reference to the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the region Andrei Karpilovich.
According to the official, the corresponding regime will be in effect at least until August 1.
As of July 21, there are more than 30 forest fires in Karelia. At the same time, the area of burning forests since July 19 has grown by almost a third – to almost 5.9 thousand hectares.
The head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov appealed to the leadership of the EMERCOM of Russia and the heads of neighboring regions to send additional equipment and firefighters to the republic.
