During the dialogue, Tikhanovskaya spoke about the massive repressions against journalists and activists by Lukashenka, as well as the terrible conditions of detention of political prisoners.
In addition, Tikhanovskaya called on the United States to strengthen support for the Belarusian civil society, pressure on the regime of the current government, and also asked to help bring those responsible for the mass torture of Belarusian citizens to justice.
Also, the former presidential candidate of Belarus stressed that it is necessary to raise the issue of Belarus during high-level international events and invite Belarusian democratic forces to participate in them.
“Only the release of all prisoners for political reasons and new elections in the near future will help Belarus get out of the crisis. And I urge the United States to adhere to this strategy of the Belarusians in its actions, ”she said.
