The Afghan ambassador to Islamabad and senior Afghan diplomats have been summoned to Kabul, the Afghan foreign ministry said Sunday evening. The decision was made after the kidnapping of the daughter of the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan. In the near future, an Afghan delegation is scheduled to visit Pakistan “to investigate and follow up on the latest case and related issues, which will be decided in the light of the delegation’s findings.” it says in the message of the ministry.

On Saturday, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said that the daughter of the Ambassador to Pakistan, Najibullah Alikhil Silsil Alikhil, was kidnapped and subjected to “cruel torture.” She was attacked in Islamabad while an adult girl was on her way home. The intruders got into her car and started beating the ambassador’s daughter. She spent several hours in captivity, informs BBC.

“After his release from captivity, Alikhil is being treated in a hospital. The Afghan Foreign Ministry strongly condemns this heinous act and expresses deep concern about the safety of diplomats, their families and employees of Afghan political and consular missions in Pakistan, ”the ministry said.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry called on the Pakistani government to take immediate measures to ensure the complete security of the Afghan embassy and consulate and the integrity of the country’s diplomats and their families, in accordance with international treaties and commitments.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan is discussing this issue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, we urge the government of Pakistan to identify and prosecute those responsible as soon as possible,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will make every effort to quickly capture the kidnappers of the foreign diplomat’s daughter.

In recent weeks, relations between Islamabad and Kabul have deteriorated amid intensified fighting in Afghanistan. The government of this country accuses Pakistan of supporting the Taliban militants and providing them with refuge on its territory. In Islamabad, counter-accusations are being made, claiming that the militants are entering Pakistan with the knowledge of the Afghan authorities.

The Taliban launched an offensive across Afghanistan after the US army and its allies began to leave the country. The withdrawal of the coalition forces is scheduled to be completed by September 11, 2021.
