The termination of the “sanitary case” in relation to the Moscow Moundep Konstantin Yankauskas is not connected with his refusal to participate in the elections to the State Duma. The Insider was informed about this by the lawyer of the Mundep Ilya Utkin.

“Chronologically, at first they did not renew the measure of restraint, and only then Konstantin refused to participate in the elections to the State Duma. These circumstances are not connected in any way. When the preventive measure was not extended, it was already clear to us where everything was going, so we calmly waited for how events would develop. They summoned us today, handed us the things that were seized during the searches, handed over a decree to terminate the criminal prosecution, and announced that we have the right to rehabilitation, ”the lawyer said, commenting on decision SK.

In June, the Basmanny Court of Moscow did not renew the measure of restraint for Yankauskas in the form of a ban on certain actions. After the trial, the FSIN officers came to Yankauskas’s home, removed his electronic bracelet and took away a special station that tracked his movements.

Earlier, the Mundep announced his refusal to run for the State Duma deputies, explaining his decision by a decline in moral strength after the recent death of his father.

Criminal case under Art. 236 of the Criminal Code “Violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules” was initiated after the action in Moscow on January 23 in support of Alexei Navalny. In total, there are ten accused in the case, including Oleg Navalny, press secretary of Alexei Navalny Kira Yarmysh, Navalny’s associate Lyubov Sobol, municipal deputies Lucy Stein and Dmitry Baranovsky, Pussy Riot participant Maria Alekhina and others.

According to the investigation, from January 18 to 23, the defendants in the case published posts with “calls” to participate in the action on Pushkin Square. Subsequently, according to the UK, people infected with COVID-19 came there.
