WWF experts identified 30 facts of complex pollution of rivers with a total length of 1,474 kilometers in four regions of Siberia. The representatives of the foundation made a similar conclusion based on the data of the monitoring carried out by it.
Fund employees analyzed satellite images of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Kemerovo Region, Tuva and Khakassia.
“The Krasnoyarsk Territory has become the leader in terms of river pollution – 14 cases of pollution with a total length of 816 km, followed by the Republic of Tyva with 6 cases of pollution with a length of 237 km, followed by the Kemerovo Region (5 cases per 218 km) and Khakassia (5 cases per 203 km ) “, – reported in the press service of the fund.
The monitoring was carried out from 15 May to 30 June.
The fund also noted that pollution was also detected in rivers in the Far East. The rivers in the Amur Region, in the Trans-Baikal and Khabarovsk Territories have suffered the most.
